Deconstructed Fruit Smoothie
Most smoothie recipes are simple vegetarian recipes - but some day I am even too lazy to bother with the blender. Smoothie ingredients taste delicious in a bowl and they make a healthy breakfast or afternoon snack.

Prep time: 5 min; Total time: 5 min
Ingredients
- Vanilla yogurt or soy yogurt
- Fresh or frozen organic wild blueberries
Optional Ingredients
- Fresh or frozen organic strawberries
- Fresh or frozen organic raspberries
- Fresh or frozen organic pineapple
- Fresh or frozen organic peaches
- A banana
- 2 tbsp. ground flax seed
- 2 tbsp. wheat germ
- Raw unfiltered locally-produced honey
- Agave nectar or maple syrup
- Fresh mint leaves
- Cinnamon
Mix fruit and yogurt in a bowl with other ingredients you wish to include.
If you are using frozen fruit, you may want to defrost it a bit in the microwave first. Otherwise the yogurt tends to freeze up.
Tips
To turn this into a dessert, use mango, raspberry, or lemon sorbet instead of yogurt. Add fresh
berries, fresh mint, and (optionally) home made whipped cream.
Instead of yogurt, use acai to make an acai bowl. Combine acai and fresh fruit (berries, peaches, and bananas) in a bowl. Top with honey.
Purchase whole flax seeds instead of ground. Use a pepper grinder to grind them over your yogurt fresh. You'll need to devote a pepper grinder to this purpose - you don't want to accidentally pepper your yogurt.
Try to use seasonal fresh fruits for this snack. Strawberries are ripe in late June, then blueberries in mid summer, and last raspberries in late summer.
